In this video, we demonstrate how to update firmware out-of-band on a PowerEdge server using OpenManage Ansible Modules. Before you begin, ensure that: You have used Dell EMC Repository Manager, or DRM, to create a valid repository of Dell EMC Update Packages or DUPs, as well as a catalog file consisting the latest DUPs that are applicable for your inventory of target nodes. All applicable updates contained in the repository is applied to the system. Your playbook is ready and is saved in the location /installer/playbooks/playbook.yml. Also, your playbook would look like this. To begin the firmware update, open putty to access the Ansible. Enter the host name/IP address and then click open. Type the login id of the host IP and then press Enter. Type the password and then press Enter. To access the playbook, run the command cd /installer/playbooks/ and then press Enter. To run the firmware update job type the command ansible-playbook-vvv playbook.yml-i/installer/varfiles/inventory-tinstallfirmware and press Enter. The firmware update job is now being run and may take several minutes depending on the complexity. You can view the status of the firmware update job on the Job Queue page in iDRAC. You can also view the progress of the job in the iDRAC virtual console. Once the job is completed, you can see the success status in Ansible.
