Instructions
portdecom <slot/port>This is the safest way to disable E ports as it would not cause any frame loss. This command could be used till there is only one ISL left. And then run:
portdisable <slot/port>to disable the E port of the last ISL.
Port decommissioning provides an automated mechanism to remove an E_Port or E_Port trunk port from use.
portdecom <slot/port>
Command to disable an E_Port without frame loss. The E_Port can either be a single redundant E_Port or an E_Port that is part of a trunk group. The port must be an operational E_Port with at least one other redundant E_Port available to reach all domains that the E_Port can reach. Or the port must be an operational E_Port which is part of a trunk group with at least one other member in the trunk. The last member of the trunk group may also be decommissioned, if there are other available redundant E_Ports. Upon successful completion of the command all traffic flows on the port will have been moved to other redundant paths and the port will be placed in a persistently disabled state. To bring the port back online use the below command.
portCfgPersistentEnable
The following restrictions apply to port decommissioning:
- The local switch and the remote switch on the other end of the E_Port must both be running Fabric OS 7.0.0 or later.
- Port decommissioning is not supported on ports with DWDM, CWDM, or TDM.
- Port decommissioning requires that the lossless feature is enabled on both the local switch and the remote switch.
NOTE: Disabling all the ISLs could lead to fabric segments, so it's recommended to double-confirm that the ISLs are no longer needed before making the changes. A redundant path must be an E_Port connection between the same pair of switches as the E_Port that is being decommissioned. Use the below command to verify that alternate paths are available to reach all domains.

Typically, there are 2 redundant fabrics, it is suggested to make changes in one fabric first, checking the host/array to make sure all is good, and then performing in the other fabric.
