Symptoms

When analyzing a virtual machine backup, CyberSense analyze job reports an INDEXING_FAILURE error due to uninitialized disk or unknown partition type.

Cause

The virtual machine contains raw disks or unknown partitions type.
For Windows, use the Disk Management utility to check for any uninitialized or unallocated space on the disks.
For Linux, the parted command can be used to list the partitions and check for any uninitialized disks.

Resolution

CyberSense is working by design.
The recommendation to avoid such index errors is to initialize and format any affected partitions.
