Symptoms
After upgrading the Avamar server to 19.3, data collection for Avamar fails with the following error:
Connection to database mcdb failed: authentication method 10 not supported (-1)
Cause
Starting with Avamar 19.3, the remote authentication method to mdcd has been updated.
The following message is displayed in the Agent log:

Resolution
Support for the new authentication method for Avamar was introduced in DPA 19.3.
Upgrade the DPA data collection Agent to 19.3 for successful authentication and data collection.
