Data Domain: Active Node May Auto-Clear Link Alerts While Links Remain Down

Symptoms

EVT-NETM-00001 network connectivity alerts are generated for RDMA interfaces.
Alerts may automatically clear on the active node while the physical network link remains down.
Repeated posting and clearing of interface connectivity alerts may be observed.
Netmon messages may report that an interface is up but not running.
Link status and alert state may appear inconsistent during HA interconnect or RDMA connectivity events.

Cause

The issue occurs when the RDMA recovery process attempts to restore connectivity on RDMA interfaces that are in an "up" state but are not fully operational. 
As part of the recovery workflow, the interface is temporarily cycled down and back up. If netmon detects this state transition, it may clear the existing EVT-NETM-00001 alert because it interprets the interface state change as a recovery event.
This behavior primarily occurs on the active node because the RDMA client recovery mechanism continuously monitors and attempts interface recovery there. 
During certain HA scenarios, the standby node does not run the same recovery path, resulting in different alert behavior between nodes.

Resolution

This issue has been identified as a software defect where the RDMA recovery workflow can interfere with netmon link-state monitoring and cause alerts to clear before connectivity is fully restored.
A fix is planned for a future Data Domain OS release and is expected to be included in DDOS 8.10 and subsequently ported to supported open and Long-Term Support (LTS) branches. 
Until the fix is applied, administrators should verify interface and physical link status using system networking commands rather than relying solely on the alert state. 
If an EVT-NETM-00001 alert unexpectedly clears, confirm that link connectivity has been fully restored before considering the condition resolved.
