Dell XC Series: Micron 7450 NVMe drive not recognized by Nutanix Prism after hotplug insert

Symptoms

Experiencing an issue where Nutanix Prism does not detect Micron 7450 NVMe drives when hot plugged into a server.

This can occur with an original factory drive or a replacement from service stock. The drive shows as Unmounted but fails to be partitioned and added to the disk group.

After a system reboot, the drives report correctly in Prism.

Cause

Drive firmware change is required to support link detection after device hot plug with Dell XC Series.

Resolution

Update firmware for the Micron 7450 NVMe drive to enable hotplug support in Nutanix. Standard PowerEdge servers and other solutions that support this drive are not impacted.
