Cause
Conflict due to Microsoft updates on Exchange 2010 in the mixed environment.
Resolution
With 2010/2016 co-existence, there are certain requirements for it to work.
These requirements are:
These requirements are:
- Service Account mailbox needs to always be on the lower exchange version. It should be the last mailbox to move to 2016. Exchange 2010 must be configured with RPC over https.
- Exchange 2016 must have RPC over https enabled. By default, Exchange 2016 has MAPI over https which is not supported by SourceOne. Users must enable RPC over https and configure it correctly.
- All SourceOne servers must have Outlook 2010 SP2 + KB2889819 only. No other HF or update. Updates for Outlook must be disabled.
- Profile must be configured on Outlook to have Outlook using RPC over https with the proxy server pointing to the 2016 server. For these changes, configure AutoDiscovery.
- Set the correct mailbox permissions on 2016 as per the installation guide.
Additional Information
The Microsoft KB2878254 and KB2889819 have been pulled back by Microsoft. The KB2889819 hotfix can be requested to EMC SourceOne support.
