Instructions

Virtual devices (VDEVs), which are targets of a SNAP operation, are being used as input to the IBM DFDSS utility for dump to tape.

Error msg:

ADR735W (001)-T0MI (06), 2009.199 03:23:02 USE OF CONCURRENT COPY FAILED FOR VOLUME APFI55,014.
SERIALIZATION WILL BE HELD AND
ARC0640I ARCDVOL1 - CONCURRENT COPY WILL NOT BE USED

Concurrent Copy attempts to put a 00xx SNAP session on the source device of the DFDSS operation. Concurrent Copy is a SNAP NOCOPY operation. The Concurrent Copy operation fails. The reason is published in the TF/Clone Mainframe Snap Facility for z/OS V 10.2.0 Product Guide, pg 90:

"A virtual device (VDEV) cannot have a relation with any target device."

The DFDSS copy operation successfully completes, allowing the VDEV to be dumped to tape.

However, Concurrent Copy is not used. A return code of 4 is issued along with a warning message ADR735W for the job.
