Symptoms

'install' or 'show install' command fails with the following error:

"Bootflash check failed with error (0x4093007E)."
Pre-upgrade check failed. Return code 0x4093007E (Issue cannot be done, bootflash is busy).

Cause

This issue applies to all MDS platforms with scp or sftp server, or both features are enabled.

Open SCP or SFTP sessions to the switch causes this issue. These 'lock' the bootflash until they are closed. Disabling the features clears any open sessions and 'lock's.

Resolution

Clear any sessions that are accessing the bootflash. This can be done in either of the following ways:

1) On Multilayer Directors (with a ha-standby supervisor), switch to the other supervisor using the 'system switchover' command,

Or

2) Disable and enable the scp/sftp features (whichever are enabled).

2a Disable the sftp feature with the 'no feature sftp-server' command, then re-enable it with the 'feature sftp-server' command.
2b Disable the scp feature with the 'no feature scp-server' command, then re-enable it with the 'feature scp-server' command.
