Symptoms

The BIOS Setup of a Dell Pro Plus 16 PB16250 reports Cellular Device: None when the computer has no WWAN card port.

Affected Platforms:

Cause

The BIOS cannot detect the WWAN slot itself, only the WWAN status from the embedded controller. Because of this, the following two conditions both cause Cellular Device to report None:

  • Boards that have a WWAN slot and no WWAN card attached
  • Boards with no WWAN slot

Resolution

This is expected behavior. The Dell Pro Plus 16 PB16250 does not have a WWAN slot. The BIOS does not detect whether there is a slot or not, only if a WWAN card is installed.
