Symptoms

Se produce el siguiente error durante la etapa de inventario cuando se ejecuta Dell System Update (DSU) 2.0.0 para VMware ESXi:

Inventory file not found - /scratch/opt/dell/dell_dup/inv.xml
Progress report is available at:/scratch/opt/dell/dell_dup/DSU_STATUS.json
Exiting DSU!

Cause

Esto se debe a que DSU intenta ejecutar el módulo Inventory Collector, el cual no es compatible con VMware ESXi. DSU 2.0.0 para ESXi siempre se debe ejecutar en "passthough" que recopila el inventario de firmware directamente desde iDRAC en lugar del módulo Inventory Collector que se ejecuta en el sistema operativo.

Resolution

Cuando ejecute cualquier método de DSU en un host VMware ESXi, ya sea en la consola local, mediante SSH o de manera remota desde otra instancia de DSU, siempre agregue las siguientes opciones de línea de comandos: 
--use-idrac-passthrough --source-type=REPOSITORY
