Instructions
NOTE: Not all computers have a fingerprint reader, check your computer's invoice to verify if it has one. Also, when the option to enroll a fingerprint in Windows Hello is not an option, your computer does not have a fingerprint reader.
- Ensure that the latest Dell drivers and BIOS are installed using SupportAssist.
- Search for SupportAssist in the Start menu and open the app.
- On the Home tab, select Update Software.
- Click Start to check for driver and BIOS updates.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation and restart your computer if prompted.
NOTE: If you do not have SupportAssist, see our driver update guide for alternative methods to download and install Dell drivers. The drivers for the fingerprint reader are under the Security category and the results may include Synaptic's, Dell ControlVault, Validity, Goodix, or another listing, this is correct. - Ensure that the latest Windows updates are installed.
- Go to Start > Settings > Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates and install the available updates.
- Browse to the Dell Setting Up Windows Hello: PIN, Fingerprint, or Face Recognition library page for information about setting up fingerprint recognition in Windows Hello.

- Press and hold the Windows (
) key, and then press the q key.
- In the Search box, type settings.
- In the search results list, touch or click Settings (System).
- Touch or click Accounts.
- In the Sign-in options section, touch or click Fingerprint recognition (Windows Hello).
- To the right of Remove this sign-in option, touch, or click Remove.
- Close the Settings window.
