Instructions

Follow these steps to access the CIFS shares as "Guest" account without receiving the pop-up asking for credentials:
  1. Enable local users on the Unity CIFS server.
     
  2. Cache the local/domain administrator credential for the CIFS Server on the Windows host, open the "Computer Management" MMC console, and connect to the CIFS server:

    - In "Local Users and Groups", please enable the "Guest" account.

    - In "Shared Folders," assign the proper Security permissions for "Guest."
     
  3. Open Unity/VNX Management MMC Snap-in tool and connect to the CIFS server. In "Data Mover Security Settings" -> "User Rights Assignment," edit the policy, "Access this computer from the network," and add the local "Guest" account.

Note: You must change the local Administrator's password before you can use the account to manage the CIFS server. You can do this on a Windows client by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete and enter the CIFS server name in the "Log on to" box.
