Instructions

This article explains how to start the collection of SP Collect logs, and then gather them using CLI.

First, you'll need to have Navisphere CLI installed on the machine you'll run the commands from. To do so, just navigate to the support site, and search for Navisphere CLI under 'support tools'. Choose the installation package which matches your host / OS to download it, and simply follow the installation instructions. Make sure that naviseccli is added to your OE path.
  • To start SP Collects gathering, run this command on both SPs (Storage Processors):
naviseccli -h <SP IP> -user <username> -password <password> -scope 0 spcollect
  • The collects will need some time to be gathered. Typically around 10 or 15 minutes. To check the current list of logs on the SP, run:
naviseccli -h <SP IP> -user <username> -password <password> -scope 0 managefiles -list
  • You'll know the SP Collects are still being gathered if you see a file in the following name format listed:
CKM00123456789_SPA_2017-05-29_07-44-16_runlog.txt
  • Once this file's no longer present, it'll instead be replaced by a zip file in the following format:
CKM00123456789_SPA_2017-05-28_00-03-52_3e2033_data.zip
  • To retrieve the file, run:
naviseccli -h <SP IP> -user <username> -password <password> -scope 0 managefiles -retrieve -file CKM00123456789_SPA_2017-05-28_00-03-52_3e2033_data.zip

Additional Information

  • You'll need to be on the management network (subnet of SPA and SPB) to run the commands successfully.
  • SP Collects are typically required from both SPA and SPB, so make sure you run the commands above on each of the two SPs, and gather the 2 zip files.
