Some VMware guest operating system and its applications require matching disk UUID in order to work properly.

Before protecting a Virtual Machine, follow the below steps to enable disk UUID replication.

  1. Follow steps in https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article?legacyId=52815This hyperlink is taking you to a website outside of Dell Technologies. to ensure the disk.EnableUUID = "TRUE" parameter is in the Virtual Machine's vmx file.
  2. Protect the Virtual Machine.


For existing protected Virtual Machine:      

  1. Unprotect the Virtual Machine from the Consistency Group.
  2. Power off the source Virtual Machine.
  3. Apply https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article?legacyId=52815This hyperlink is taking you to a website outside of Dell Technologies.
  4. Power on the source Virtual Machine.
  5. Reprotect the Virtual Machine wait until it becomes Active.
  6. Perform 'Test a Copy' and verify that the source Virtual Machine hardware changes get reflected in the Replica Virtual Machine.
  7. Finish 'Test a Copy'.
