Symptoms

When attempting to reimage a node to a version of OneFS prior to 8, you get a message stating: 
CRITICAL Version checker failed:Drives with 4k logical block length are not supported in this release

 

Cause

Support for 4kn drives was not introduced until OneFS 8. Support cannot be added to previous versions of OneFS.
  
The HGST Ultrastar He8 8 TB FIPS SAS SED, HGST Aries-HC 8 TB, Seagate Enterprise 6 TB SATA, and Seagate Enterprise 6 TB SED are 4kn drives:
HGST Aries-HC 8TB SATA 4K Model HUH728080ALN600
HGST Aries-HC 8TB SAS 4K SED Model H5H72808CLAR8000
Seagate Enterprise 6TB SED Model ST6000NM0114
Seagate Enterprise 6TB Model ST6000NM0004-1FT17Z
 

Resolution

Image the node and/or cluster to a version of OneFS 8 to provide support for these drives.
