Symptoms



Host is only configured with one path to the storage system. Configure multiple paths to establish redundancy.

Cause

 Intermittent disconnections, iSCSI disconnections in VNXe

Resolution


Multipathing is configured and Array is directly connected to the host. Here are the steps to take in order to resolve this issue:

1) The medium (how the array is connected to the host over 10Gig Fibre-optic cable or any other cable and if that is supported by VNXe)

2) The host HBA details including the firmware version of the HBA that need to be checked if that is compatible or not

3) Check cable and replace if possible.

4) If the cable and HBA ports are compatible and still the disconnection alerts are being generated then we can replace the SFPs on host HBA or the VNXe.

5) After replacing the SFP if issue still persist then need to engage Level 2 support team.
 
Note: When connecting a host to an array using direct connection, best practice is to use two Host HBA/NICs - one to each SP for redundant connections.
