VxRail: OVF failed to deploy on vCenter with error: Failed to deploy OVF

Summary: Deploying an OVF in vSphere may fail if the browser does not have the certificates added.

Symptoms

Error showing in vCenter while deploying an OVF of a VM:

The operation failed for an undetermined reason. Typically this problem occurs due to certificates that the browser does not trust. If you are using self-signed or custom certificates, open the URL below in a new browser tab and accept the certificate, then retry the operation.

Cause

This can be caused when the browser does not have the certificates.

Resolution

  1. From a web browser, go to the base URL of the vCenter Server or the vCenter Server Virtual Appliance without appending port numbers.
    For example:
    https://vcenter.domain.com/ 
  2. Click the Download trusted root CA certificates link at the bottom of the gray box on the right and download the file.
  3. Extract the contents of the ZIP file.
  4. For windows OS, follow the steps below to Install the certificate files as trusted certificates and see back to system admin if any issues occurred in the process: Manage Trusted Root Certificates | Microsoft Learn This hyperlink is taking you to a website outside of Dell Technologies.
  5. Go to the browser, for example, Chrome and import the certificate using the steps: Go to settings>advanced> Manage certificates> Trusted Root certification>click CA> import> and choose the certificate file you have downloaded.
