Symptoms



If the recovery of the SQL database does not complete within the default timeout period, the following error will be found in the service plan events:
 
11/01/2016 02:46:32 AM,Recover copy,SQL_000033,AppSync_Server_Hostname, Beginning recovery of databases in mode recovery.,
11/01/2016 02:52:11 AM,Recover copy,SQL_000058,AppSync_Server_Hostname,A time out occurred during recovery on the instance Mount_Hostname\SQL_DB_NAME.,

Cause

The default timeout period for AppSync to receive a successful response from the recovery of the SQL Database is 5 minutes.

Whether or not the recovery was truly successful or not is not known.

It is entirely possible that the SQL Database recovery was successful after more than 5 minutes.
It is entirely possible that the SQL Database recovery failed sometime after 5 minutes.

It is only known at this point that recovery was not successful within 5 minutes.

Resolution

Determine if the SQL Database recovery was successful by checking if the database is available on the mount host.
SQL Studio is the most common tool used to perform this task. Engage your DBA if assistance is needed performing this task.

If it is considered normal for the Database recovery to take longer than 5 minutes, on a regular basis or on occasion, such as end of month when there are large data loads to the source database, then open a service request and quote this article and request the method to increase the max.sql.restore.timeout.seconds variable.

If it is not considered normal for the Database recovery to take longer than 5 minutes, engage your Database Administration team to determine the cause of the delay.
