Symptoms



Customer is trying to grant the permission On CIFS Shares and get the error message as "Could not find the domain controller for this domain"
This issue is for for all shares in 1 cifs server.  but he will be able to ping the domain 

Cause

Dns was stopped on data mover
verify after issuing the command
#server_dns server_2

Resolution

Need to start dns on vnx and now customer will be able to change the permissions on CIFS shares.

This  command will start the dns on data mover 
[nasadmin@KFund-VNX5400-CS0 ~]$ server_dns server_2 -option start
server_2 : done
