Symptoms

VM 映像備份失敗，並出現快照靜止錯誤，如下所示。
 

avvcbimage Warning <16277>: vSphere Task failed (application quiesce): 'An error occurred while quiescing the virtual machine. See the virtual machine's event log for details.
avvcbimage Warning <43652>: Snapshot 'Avamar-1577539864a83b60c2d81fb0e6234f5e956e1bedb51d697138' creation for VM '[XXYY-XXYY01] testxyz2473_1/testxyz2473_1.vmx' task creation encountered a quiesce problem

拍攝手動快照時，它運行良好。 

Cause

VM 環境中發生磁碟 I/O 和記憶體用量方面的資源問題。VMware vCenter 6.5 版及更新版本推出了新的磁碟區陰影複製服務 （VSS） 功能，稱為延伸快照 (CreateSnapshotEx_Task) 取代舊功能 "CreateSnapshot_Task."

VMware 版本資訊備註如下。
6.5 版包括對其他卷影複製服務 （VSS） 備份配置的支援。

  1. 可使用 vssBackupType VSS_BT_COPY 之前用作預設值 CreateSnapshot_Task 但是現在 VSS_BT_FULL, VSS_BT_INCREMENTAL, VSS_BT_DIFFERENTIAL, 和 VSS_BT_LOG 也可用。
  2. 可使用 vssBackupContext 引入以強制應用程式或檔案系統靜止。
  3. 靜止 VM 的超時（預設 = 15 分鐘）可以配置為 5 分鐘到 4 小時。

 

若要支援這些新功能和組態，該功能 CreateSnapshotEx_Task 已新增至 vSphere API，取代 CreateSnapshot_Task。

Resolution

當 VM 團隊嘗試使用 vCenter 受管物件瀏覽器 （MOB） 手動取得延伸快照時，因 VMware 相關問題而失敗。在 VMware 團隊修正了所有 VMware 相關問題 （包括該 VM 上的磁碟 I/O 問題），且我們能夠從 MOB 和 Avamar 備份拍攝快照後，備份問題便獲得解決。
