powermt commands are freezing on an AIX server

Cause


From 'ps -efl' we can see the following PowerPath processes are stuck:

40001 A     root 23462078        1   0  60 20 87ab83480   780  2c092a8   Apr 21      -  0:00 /etc/methods/cfgpower -l powerpath0
8240001 A     root 26345472 28442664   0  60 20 b6f0f2480   600            Apr 21      -  0:00 cfgmgr -l powerpath0
8240001 A     root 28442664 28049674   0  60 20 b3f1b7480   660            Apr 21      -  0:00 /usr/sbin/powermt config

The processes above are dated April 21st.  emcgrab was run on June 15th.

Resolution


Kill the stuck PowerPath processes and re-run the relevant [powermt] commands.
