Symptoms

Customer can no longer modify snapshot access from "ModifyAccess" under "Access" page in lun's properties Unisphere in OE 4.1 and later.

Cause

The GUI operation changed in OE 4.1 and later because multiple snapshots can now be attached.  See Notes for more details.

Resolution

There is an option to mount the SMP to a host by command line.

Use the following command:

/stor/prov/luns/lun -id <value> set  [ -snapHosts <value> ]
[ -snapHosts Specify a comma-separated list of hosts with access to snapshots of the LUN ]

The command is also required to be used by any external applications, including backup software, which create or manage Unity snapshots.

Additional Information

Before Unity OE version 4.1, only a single snapshot per LUN can be attached at any given time, and must be detached prior to attaching another snapshot of the same LUN.
From GUI before Unity OE version  4.1,customer can use "ModifyAccess" under "Access" page in lun's properties.

-In Unity OE version 4.1 and later, multiple snapshots for a particular Block resource can be attached to one or more hosts at the same time. Previously, only a single snapshot could be mounted to one or more hosts. This change allows snapshots, potentially with different information for a common source, to be mounted to one or more hosts at the same time.

From GUI Unity OE version 4.1 and later, GUI is changed to support multiple snapshots, customer can modify snapshot access under snapshots page.
It is convenient for users to select different snapshots and assign them to different hosts.
Go to snapshots in lun's properties, select snapshot and then attach to host in <more actions>

Since GUI is changed to support multiple snapshots in OE 4.1.
So it is not able to mount the default SMP(Snapshot Mount Point) to host in GUI
