Avamar, Data Domain: Avtier Error <42736>: Failed to mark, reason: Function not supported
Summary: Cloud Tier jobs are not marking Avamar backups. The data-movement policy on Data Domain is incorrect.

Symptoms
A cloud unit was recently added to or changed for the Avamar and Data Domain environment for Cloud Tiering.
The following error is seen when trying to mark backups for Cloud Tiering from the Avamar tiering group:

Avtier Error <42736>: Backup XXXXXXXXXXXX Failed to mark, reason: Function not supported.
Cause
The data-movement policy that is created on the Data Domain is either missing or incorrect.
Below is an example of an incorrect data movement policy "age-threshold."

Resolution
Remove and readd the cloud unit information from the ddr-information, then add it back in from the UI.
Work with Support as needed.
