Symptoms



Avamar administrator GUI will display Data domain total Capacity if Cloud Tier configured on system.  This article describes how to check Data Domain Active Tier and Cloud tier capacity separately

The following example shows the Data Domain Total Capacity seen on Avamar GUI:

Avamar AUI Dashboard also displays Data Domain Total Capacity. 

Total Capacity = Total Active Tier Capacity + Total Cloud Tier Capacity. 
Total Used Capacity= Used Active Tier Capacity + Used Cloud Tier Capacity. 
Space Used % is calculated accordingly. 

Note: This KB Article Applies to all IDPA versions and Avamar versions that supports Cloud Tiering. 

Cause

Avamar GUI displays the Data Domain Total Capacity Statistics and not Active Tier Capacity Statistics. 
Data Domain Active Tier Capacity Usage can be checked on the following 3 places:
1: ACM Home Page.
2: Data Domain GUI --> Data Management Tab
3: Data Domain CLI  --> filesys show space tier active or df


Resolution

Steps to check for the Data Domain Detailed Space Utilization:

1: ACM UI Protection Storage Dashboard shows both the Active Tier and Cloud Tier Capacity breakup.

Total backup storage = Total Active Tier Capacity
Available backup storage = Available Active Tier Capacity
Cloud Storage = Total Cloud Tier Capacity


2: Data Domain System Manager UI also displays both the Active Tier and Cloud Tier Capacity breakup.
