Dell G5 5590, G7 7590/7790 cannot control RGB backlight keyboard by Fn+F10 without installing AWCC

Symptom

Gaming series notebook owners may find that the 4-Zone RGB Backlit Keyboard will not light up by pressing Fn+F10, mostly the issue could happen after reinstalling Windows 10.

Affected systems

(Figure.1 G7 7790, G5 5590, and G7 7590 gaming notebooks)

Important: Systems must be configured with the optional RGB keyboard in order to support Alien FX 2.0. Systems configured with the standard backlit keyboard will not support AlienFX 2.0. Please refer to your invoice to confirm the type of keyboard in your system

Solution

The 4-Zone RGB backlit keyboard is controlled by the AWCC (Alienware Command Center). Install AWCC to activate/change the keyboard backlight.

To download and install the latest version of Alienware Command Center:

1. Browse to the Dell Drivers & Downloads page:

   • Dell G-Series G5 5590 notebook

   • Dell G-Series G7 7590 notebook

   • Dell G-Series G7 7790 notebook

2. Select the Operating System

3. Under Category, select Application

4. Locate the latest Alienware Command Center Application

5. Click Download and save the file to your computer

6. Open File Explorer and browse to the location where the downloaded file is saved

7. Double-click the application setup file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process

8. You may be asked to access the Microsoft Store to finalise this installation
