Symptoms

The Microsoft HCI Solutions from Dell Technologies are built on the AX nodes. These servers are validated regularly for any component firmware and driver updates. These updates are available in the KB article 126014: Support Matrix for Microsoft HCI Solutions. This list of updates is available as a catalog package that can be used with Windows Admin Center(WAC), iDRAC, OpenManage Essentials, or OpenManage Enterprise. Download the corresponding component Dell Update Packages (DUP) to a local repository. This article provides the location of the update catalog, steps to download and update HCI cluster using the catalog.

Resolution

Procedure to download the update catalog

  1. Download the catalog file from http://downloads.dell.com/catalog/ASHCI-Catalog.xml.gz.
  2. Extract the catalog file using tools such as WinZip, 7Zip, or Gzip.
  3. Use Dell Repository Manager to download the catalog contents to a local repository for offline updates.
  4. Use Windows Admin Center (WAC) with Open Manage Integration for Windows Admin Center (OMIWAC) for online updates to update cluster.
Dell EMC Microsoft Storage Spaces Direct Ready Node Operations Guide for managing and monitoring Ready Node life cycle provides the steps to perform a cluster aware update of the firmware and driver components.

Note: Following Dell update Packages(DUP) are excluded from the Azure Stack HCI Catalog, as these are not part of enterprise catalog.
