Resolution

How does the Dell Security Management Server Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) account work?

Dell Security Management Server EAS client works through the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) protocol. You can set and enforce policies at the user level and commands at the device level. Exchange ActiveSync sends and enforces Device management commands. Allow, block, and remote wipe commands are deployed over-the-air.

The EAS management client is apart of the Dell Data Protection | Mobile Edition and Dell Security Management Server software suite. Dell Data Protection | Mobile Edition is centrally managed. It helps to increase IT visibility and control, greatly reducing the compliance workload and the risk of a data breach. You can set policies and restrictions across the enterprise, and immediately run commands like Remote Wipe, so you can quickly respond to and limit the scope of a data leak. With automatic discovery of unenrolled devices and centralized management and reporting, Dell Data Protection | Mobile Edition helps keep corporate data secure while enabling users to work uninterrupted.

What happens to the encrypted device if a user deleted the EAS account?

While the EAS account is enabled on the device, the user cannot modify the device's encryption or enforcement password requirements. If the user deletes or removes the EAS account, the user has control to disable encryption, change password settings, and edit other policies for that device.

The data on the device is decrypted.
