Symptoms
Wake-on-LAN (WOL) does not function on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system using the Aquantia 5G network interface card (NIC) on the Precision Tower 3420 (MT or SFF), 5820, 7820, or 7920. This article provides more information about the issue.
Cause
WOL is not functional in Red Hat Enterprise Linux with Aquantia 5G NIC. WOL cannot be enabled in the Aquantia 5G NIC driver in the Linux kernel. An error occurs when you enable the WOL function under the Aquantia 5G NIC driver in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3.
Resolution
You are unable to use the Aquantia 5G NIC with the WOL function in the Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system. Use the onboard or Intel add-in NIC instead.
A later Aquantia Linux driver is expected to have this WOL feature added.
