PowerEdge: How to Update the Backplane of a VRTX

Instructions

  1. Download the latest EXE update package on the Dell support site.
  2. Log in to the Chassis Management Controller (CMC) IP. By default, the login credentials are root/calvin.

  3. In the console, click Chassis Overview > Storage > Update.
  4. On the Storage Component Update page, click the Browse button.
  5. Locate and select the Update Package, then click Upload. You see the following message:
    The file is being updated. This may take several minutes.
  6. On the Storage Component Update page, check the Expander box and then click Update. You see the following message:
    The update is in progress. This will take several minutes.
  7. The Expander (backplane) is now updated.
