How to Restore a File from a Replicated Avamar Grid.

  • Open the Avamar Admin user interface and connect to the production grid.
    Go to Policy and then Clients, edit the client to receive the restore, and clear the Activated checkbox.
  • Open the Avamar Admin user interface and connect to the replication grid.
    Go to Policy and then Clients, edit the same client, and ensure that the Activated checkbox is cleared.
  • On the client system, register the client to the replication grid.
  • Restore the required files to the client from the replication grid.
  • On the client system, register the client back to the production grid.
  • If the Admin user interface to the replication grid was closed, reconnect to the replication grid and repeat step 2; otherwise, verify the client’s Activated box remains unchecked.
# Register client to the replication grid
avregister --server [REPLICATION_GRID] --client [CLIENT_NAME]

# Register client back to the production grid
avregister --server [PRODUCTION_GRID] --client [CLIENT_NAME]
