Instructions

Occasionally, when installing a more recent version of PowerPath than is already installed, the installation fails when attempting to install the pre-requisites. This is because the pre-requisites are already installed.

To enable PowerPath to complete successfully, sometimes it is necessary to remove the previously installed pre-requisites.

Warning: Do not remove other versions of VC++ not associated with PowerPath. Doing so may cause the applications to fail that rely on that version.

PowerPath 5.5 32bit:
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable X86: 8.0.59193

PowerPath 5.5 64bit:
Both installers are required for PowerPath 5.5 GA 
installation on 64bit host.
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable X86: 8.0.59193
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable_X64: 8.0.59192

PowerPath 5.5 SP1 32bit:
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable X86: 8.0.61001

PowerPath 5.5 SP1 64bit:

Both installers are required for PowerPath 5.5SP1 installation on 64bit host.

The attached files contain the respective MSI and CAB files required to uninstall the above v8 and v9 Microsoft Visual C++ redistributables.
  1. Download the respective file to the server in question and expand the the zip file onto the local drive.
  2. Go to Programs and Features in Control Panel and identify the relevant Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable.
  3. Right Click this and select Uninstall. This will error due to the source being missing - at this point, point to the previously downloaded and expanded location.
