Unisphere for VMAX: Running Java process as a non-root user

Symptoms



  • Unisphere for VMAX and Unisphere for PowerMax currently runs Java as a root user.
  • There is no option prompted to change from the default root user to a non-root user.

Cause

Currently Java is required to be run by the root user in Unisphere for VMAX.

Resolution

Currently it is not possible to run Java as a non-root user.

Dell EMC Product Management and Development Engineering is aware of the requirement to run Java as a non-root user and this is being evaluated for a future release.
