Symptoms
- Recently upgraded to DCNM 7.2.3
- Unable to modify zones via "Edit Local Full Zone Database" in DCNM. Getting the following error message:
Snmp: The login user does not have permission to edit zones for switches in selected VSAN. To edit zones please discover the switches in selected VSAN using SNMP User with read/write permission
- Switches also shows status Timeout (Client) in DCNM:

Resolution
- From the DCNM webUI > Admin > Server Properties area, set the fabric.enableNpvDiscovery parameter to false.
# Allow NPV discovery:
# (Default to true)
fabric.enableNpvDiscovery=false
# (Default to true)
fabric.enableNpvDiscovery=false
- Apply the change
- Restart DCNM SAN/LAN server
- Rediscover the fabric(s)
Increase the DCNM SNMP Timeout value
- Select File > Preferences.
- In the SNMP tab, enter 30
- Select OK.
- Restart the SAN client
- Verify whether timeout error is still present
Note: Customers should also work with their networking team to ensure all the required TCP/UDP ports are opened on the firewall as this may also cause this issue
