Symptoms



  • Avamar version 18.x

  • RMAN plugin doing archive log or level 1 backups

  • Error from avoracle:   

avoracle Error <17358>: An incremental backup was requested but there is no previous full backup.  Please perform a full backup before any subsequent full backups.
 
Note: This article only applies if there is actually a full or level 0 backup done previously.

Cause

Avamar RMAN plugin does not search properly for the most recent FULL or Level 0 backup done to Avamar.

Resolution

Workaround:   
Do a new level 0 backup
 
There is a hotfix that can be applied to the system to address this issue. Contact Dell EMC Avamar support to apply hotfix associated to escalation 34795.
