Symptoms

This issue occurs after a long period of supervisor uptime.
It becomes apparent if a standby supervisor is present and it is reset (ISSU, ISSD, supervisor switchover, or standby reset) since it never comes online.

"show system internal flash" indicates that the /nxos/tmp is 100% -

Cause

A file called fm_debug.log.vdc_1* consumes the space. This can be identified as follows:

switch# show system internal dir /nxos/tmp | include fm_debug
fm_debug.log.vdc_1.2698 20922368

The following type of syslog messages may be logged:

%SYSMGR-2-TMP_DIR_FULL: System temporary directory usage is unexpectedly high at 97%.

Resolution

Upgrade past nx-os code 5.28d.
