Dell Storage MD1400 和 MD1420 DAS (Direct Attach Storage) 機櫃可連接纜線以提供額外的儲存空間。部署六個以上的 MD1400 或三個以上的 MD1420 機櫃時，PERC H840 會回報在開機期間超過 64 個磁碟的上限。機櫃是否在同一通道上連接並不重要。
解決方案
PERC 10 的一項功能是設定檔管理的概念，可在 DAS 設定檔之間切換，定義最大實體和虛擬磁碟數量。H840 有兩個設定檔：PD64 和 PD240。若要將 64 個磁碟上限增加到 240 個磁碟，可更新 PERC H840 設定檔以容納超過 64 個實體磁碟。
