SRM 4.4.x: How to change MySQL passwords

Instructions

How to change MySQL passwords 4.4.x:   

STEP 1:   
Linux
Create a hostnames.conf file like below and enter the following:   
Example:  #cat opt\APG\hostnames.conf
frontend=xxxx.xxx.emc.com
primarybackend= xxxx.xxx.emc.com
additionalbackend_1=xxxx.xxx.emc.com
collector_1= xxxx.xxx.emc.com
Username: apg
New Password: changeme1234
Re-enter Password: changeme1234

Windows
Example: dir program files\APG\hostnames.conf
frontend=xxxx.xxx.emc.com
primarybackend= xxxx.xxx.emc.com
additionalbackend_1=xxxx.xxx.emc.com
collector_1= xxxx.xxx.emc.com
Username: apg
New Password: changeme1234
Re-enter Password: changeme1234

STEP 2:    
Linux
Run the script as:   
xxxxxx:/opt/APG/bin # ./launch-update-backend-passwords.sh -c /opt/APG/hostnames.conf
Username: apg
New Password: changeme1234
Re-enter Password: changeme1234

Windows
xxxxxx: \program files\APG\bin launch-update-backend-passwords.cmd -c program files \APG\hostnames.conf
Username: apg
New Password: changeme1234
Re-enter Password: changeme1234
Updating...

  • Stopping 'webservice-gateway Default'...

  • Starting 'webservice-gateway Default'...

  • Starting 'compliance-backend generic-compliance'...
  • Starting 'compliance-backend generic-compliance'... [ OK ]
  • Password changed for apg user and all configuration files updated in the backend. 
  • Note: If the "root" password is changed, change it on all the servers before attempting to change for "apg".
  • Note: Run the above steps to change the default password after a new backend server is added. Securing the MySQL database
This procedure is written in Dell EMC M&R Security Configuration Guide page 46.

When complete, log into MySQL database using the new password using the mysql-client script.
