Symptoms

The following is see from the RecoverPoint /home/kos/management/result.log:
Subsequent setGroupSettings_internal_impl commands show the latest command resetting values set by earlier requests to change the CG name:
The below message is seen when a Consistency Group name is changed from cg_TEST_10 to cg_TEST_1_10. Command at 09:03:18.434 reverted changes applied by command at 09:03:18.422:
XXXX/XX/XX 09:03:18.422 - #2 - 7822/7238 - Management_AO_IMPL::setGroupSettings_internal_impl: 21691696, cg_TEST_1_10...
XXXX/XX/XX 09:03:18.434 - #2 - 7822/7238 - Management_AO_IMPL::setGroupSettings_internal_impl: 21691696, cg_TEST1_10...

Cause

There is a timing issue when the group update and copy update APIs are invoked in parallel. This causes one of the APIs to reset properties set by other. When this occurs, the Consistency Group name is not changed.

Resolution

Workaround:
There are two possible workarounds for this situation:
  • Rename the Consistency Group using the RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines CLI.
  • Retry the operation until it succeeds. This is purely a timing issue, so retrying the same operation from the HTML5 plug-in has a good chance of completing successfully.
Resolution:
This issue is addressed in RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines 5.3.2.
