PowerScale: Isilon: How to power cycle and drain a GEN6 Isilon node

Instructions

STEP 1.  Establish a serial connection physically to the node and SSH session as 'root' user with the node that you want to power-cycle and drain. Use the setting as shown in the screenshot below:
 


STEP 2. Shut down the affected node by either running 'shutdown -p now' via the CLI or selecting the shutdown option in the Web UI.
STEP 3. Once the node is shutdown, disconnect power cable connect to the node. Ensure that the power is connect to the node adjacent the failed node. EG. if node 3 is the failed node, ensure that node 4 has power.
STEP 4. Undo the orange screw at the back of the node to release the latch for the Compute module and pull the orange lever to release the module from the chassis. See the screenshot below:




STEP 5. Wait a minute and reseat the Compute module back in place.
STEP 6. Reinsert the power cable into the faulted node and let it boot.
STEP 7. Once the node is booted login and run the isi_status command to ensure that the node is up and part of the cluster. Run any other health checks as required.
