PowerStore: Logical Unit Number changes when a volume is migrated

Summary: Migration of a volume from one appliance to another in a multiappliance cluster results in a change of Logical Unit Number (LUN).

Symptoms

Logical Unit Number of a SCSI-attached volume may change when the volume is nondisruptively migrated in a multiappliance cluster.

Cause

A host may have volumes that are mapped from more than one appliance in a multiappliance Cluster. It is possible that the LUN ID number from a volume in the source appliance may already be used on a target appliance. In this case, the LUN ID number from the source appliance cannot be reused.

Resolution

Workaround:

If the LUN should be changed back to the number used before migration, select the volume from the volume list, go to Host Mappings, and select Edit LUN from MORE ACTIONS.

NOTE: Changing the LUN ID number is a disruptive operation. The following message will be displayed before changing the number:
"Changing the Logical Unit Number of the host will disrupt its access to the volume until a host-side rescan is performed."
