Instructions
- Get a list of the virtual disks by running the following command:
Get-VirtualDisk
- Use the list to find the name of the virtual disk that must be expanded with command:
Get-VirtualDisk [friendly_name] | Resize-VirtualDisk -Size [New Size]
- Expand the volumes by running the following three commands:
$VirtualDisk = Get-VirtualDisk [friendly_name] $Partition = $VirtualDisk | Get-Disk | Get-Partition | Where PartitionNumber -Eq 2 $Partition | Resize-Partition -Size ($Partition | Get-PartitionSupportedSize).SizeMax
- Run the following command and verify that the volume has expanded:
Get-Volume
This can also be done more easily by using Windows Admin Center (WAC).
- In WAC, go to the Dashboard of the cluster.
- Choose Volumes in the left-hand column.
- Choose Inventory in the right-hand window.
- Click the checkbox next to the volume that must be expanded.
- Choose Settings from the list of options above.
- Set the new size for the volume.
- Click Expand. It expands the disk and the volume for you.
