Instructions
System Health may display a message "DB large tmpfiles found. (KB#000196198)" in one of the following scenarios:
- Running a System Check using PowerStore Manager (UI) with the Run Upgrade Extensions option:
Tip: The Profile field displays Upgrade Extensions when the Run Upgrade Extensions option is used to perform a System Check.
- Running a System Check using PowerStore Manager (UI) with the Run System Check option:
Tip: The Profile field displays Service Engagement when the Run System Check option is used to perform a System Check.
- Running the System Health Service Script (svc_health_check) using an SSH connection:
$ svc_health_check run -rhc db_tmpfiles_check -p Upgrade_Extensions Name Location Status Description DB Tmp Files Check node_a FAILED DB large tmpfiles found. (KB#000196198) DB Tmp Files Check node_b PASSED
The above message indicates that the database (DB) temporary files are larger than expected.
When this issue exists the metrics collection may be interrupted resulting in gaps of system's metrics. It is recommended to resolve this issue before performing any maintenance operations or software upgrade (NDU).
This issue has been resolved in 3.0. If you are using PowerStoreOS 3.0 or later, this warning can be ignored.
To resolve this issue, contact technical support for assistance. Reference KB #000196198 for expedited attention and resolution.
