Symptoms

The backups from VEEAM 11 or 11a running on Windows 2016 or 2019 to DD using DDBOOST over IP may fail. VEEAM may stop responding, or backups may fail.

Customer may see this error during the backup:  But this symptom is not required to match this KB to the error.
Exception " veeam.backup.agentprovider.agentclosedexception" was seen.

Cause

The issue is related to the OpenSSL version openssl-1.0.2h used with the DDBOOST plug-in 7.0 that is embedded in VEEAM 11. The issue is fixed in OpenSSL version 1.0.2u in the DDBOOST plug-in version 7.2.x.

Resolution

DDBOOST plug-in is included within VEEAM, so cannot be upgraded separately.

1) VEEAM has integrated the higher DDBOOST plug-in version. Fix_349005 has been made available by Veeam. Engage Veeam Support if required to deploy this fix.

2) For reference: Prior to fix released of the above fix, you could have engaged VEEAM technical support to get the DDBOOST plug-in to fix the issue while waiting for the final fix with the next VEEAM version release.

The package should be:
  • VeeamDeploymentSvc.exe_11.0.1.1261 with DDBOOST plug-in 7.7.1.0-1007743.
Check the compatibility using the e-Lab navigator page before proceeding with any upgrade:
