Symptoms

  • Attempt to create SMB share with different name succeeds.
  • For test purpose, user could successfully create SMB share named "Home1."
  • Any other name specified to create SMB share succeeds.
  • Issue is only encountered when user attempts creating SMB share with the name "Home."

Cause

  • The Unity array is operating as designed.
  • This behavior is expected if the home directory function is enabled.

Resolution

  • To create a share with the name "Home", the Home Directory feature must be disabled using CIFS Management Tool.
  • Once disabled, user could create share named "Home."
