Summary: This article describes how to prevent Windows 10 Feature updates from happening on Endpoints protected by Dell Encryption Enterprise.
Instructions
Affected Products:
- Dell Encryption Enterprise
Affected Operating Systems:
- Windows
Microsoft is periodically releasing new Windows 10 Feature updates. Sometimes these updates can cause some compatibility issues with the installed version of Dell Encryption Enterprise. To prevent the Windows 10 Feature updates from being installed, it is possible to control it using WSUS, or by implementing a registry key that allows the Windows 10 Feature update to run only until the specified Windows 10 build.
Process
To set in the registry the maximum allowed Windows 10 Build, follow the below steps:
- Back up the Registry before proceeding, reference How to Back Up and Restore the Registry in Windows
.
- Editing the Registry can cause the computer to become unresponsive on the next reboot.
- Contact Dell Data Security International Support Phone Numbers for assistance if you have concerns about performing this step.
- Open the Registry editor (regedit): Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog, enter regedit in the empty box and click OK.
