Symptoms
Slim Soundbar SB521A Has No Sound
Dell computers using the Intel Tiger Lake Central Processing Unit (CPU) and SB521A Soundbar may experience no sound intermittently during media playback and pause, then resume. This happens when the personal computer is running on battery. The problem does not occur while the laptop is powered by an external adapter.
Any parts or computers or symptoms specific to the Issue:
- All Dell platforms with Intel TigerLake CPU
Cause
The Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel SST) driver is installed on computers with a Tiger Lake (Intel 11th Gen CPU).
Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel SST) is an integrated audio Digital Signal Processor (DSP) built to handle audio, voice, and speech interactions. ISST has enabled the audio USB offload from CPU to Intel DSP. On a computer running a different CPU, a Microsoft inbox driver is installed, or running an Intel SST driver.
Previous Intel SST driver versions do not support USB audio offloading for SB521A, this version enables the offloading, as a result, users may encounter no sound.
Resolution
Uncheck the Hardware Acceleration, and Signal Enhancements checkbox as illustrated in the audio device additional properties.
Disable the Intel Smart Sound Technology for USB Audio driver in Device manager (local admin rights required).
