PowerStore: When storage networks scaled to 50 (or more), PowerStoreOS upgrades may fail with "Uninitialized" ports
Summary: When storage networks are scaled to a substantial number of NVMe/TCP ports (for example, greater than 50), with Auto Discovery of CDC option enabled, CDC connection state on all NVMe/TCP ports may appear Uninitialized and subsequent PowerStoreOS upgrades may fail. ...

Symptoms
Example:
CDC connection states on all NVMe/TCP ports in the affected PowerStore cluster appear 'Uninitialized' when the number of NVMe/TCP ports is greater than 50.
CDC connection states on all NVMe/TCP ports in the affected PowerStore cluster appear 'Uninitialized' when the number of NVMe/TCP ports is greater than 50.
Cause
When storage networks are scaled to a substantial number of NVMe/TCP ports (for example, greater than 50), with Auto Discovery of CDC option enabled, the PowerStoreOS upgrade process may lead to a resource exhaustion that may result in failure of subsequent upgrades.
Resolution
Resolution
Upgrade to PowerStoreOS version 3.2 or later, which includes the fix for this issue (for subsequent upgrades).Workaround
Perform the steps below to avoid this issue during the upgrade to PowerStoreOS version 3.2:- Before the upgrade starts, disable the 'Auto Discovery of CDC' option. Choose one of the following two methods:
- PowerStore Manager user interface (UI): Settings > Network IPs > STORAGE

- PSTCLI:
network -id XXXX set -nvme_discovery_mode Auto_Discovery_Disabled
or
network -name XXXX set -nvme_discovery_mode Auto_Discovery_Disabled
- PowerStore Manager user interface (UI): Settings > Network IPs > STORAGE
- After the upgrade, reenable the Auto Discovery of CDC option using the UI or PSTCLI (see pstcli network set -h for options).
Note: This step is optional. Follow this step only when planning to use the Auto Discovery of CDC option following the upgrade to PowerStoreOS version 3.2.
Additional Information
Disabling Automatic Discovery disables mDNS. No attempt will be made to register with a CDC if one exists. This is a compatibility mode for environments that are compliant with NVMe-oF 1.1.
