Symptoms

You click the "migrate" vCLS VM's button and the VMs remain in place.

You remove/readd a service, the blue Lifecycle Mode messages comes up saying the vCLS VMs must be moved to shared storage, but when prompted for which storage pool to put them in there is nothing in the dropdown.

Any other scenario where the vCLS VMs were supposed to be moved and did not get moved.

Cause

DRS is turned off.
The datastores were renamed to something that is not standard (see KBA-000184422 for the standard naming convention).
The datastores are not on shared storage.

Resolution

This comes from KBA-000184422 except for steps 9 & 10:

vSphere - Storage vMotion vCenter Steps

  1. VMs are visible only through VMs and Templates view or Administration > vCenter Server Extensions > vSphere ESXi Agent Manager>VMs

  2. VMs are created under the vCLS folder once the hosts are added to a cluster

  3. From VMs and Templates, click the vCLS folder

  4. Right-click the VM click the Migrate option

  5. On the popup window click yes

  6. Click change storage only

  7. For HC and CO nodes, migrate them to a PowerFlex datastore which will be mapped after the PowerFlex deployment..

  8. Repeat the above procedure for all vCLS VMs

  9. Reinventory the vCenter resources in PfXM

  10. Run an "Update Service Details" from the service that needs the vCLS VMs moved.

    1. If this does not work, the next step is to remove and then readd the service.

    2. If this does not work, engage Technical Support.
