Symptoms

Latitude 5x30, 5x40, 7x30, and Precision 7670 owners may report issues with their laptops recognizing the smart card on preboot or warm reboot.

Error EE080006 (Smart Card not Present) may be received.

Cause

The USH port was disregarded during preboot.

Resolution

Update to the following BIOS versions on the computer to resolve the issue. To download and install the BIOS, reference BIOS Update Guide.

  • BIOS Revision 1.11.2 or later for Latitude 5430
  • BIOS Revision 1.11.3 or later for Latitude 5530
  • BIOS Revision 1.12.2 or later for Latitude 7330, Latitude 7430, Latitude 7530
  • BIOS Revision 1.10.0 or later for Precision 7670
  • BIOS Revision 1.5.0 or later for Latitude 5340
  • BIOS Revision 1.8.1 or later for Latitude 5540
  • BIOS Revision 1.14.3 or later for Latitude 5440
